I should have specified, the ones I purchased where from RMR bullets, and theirs is rated under 2000fps.golfindia wrote:Extreme Load Info page:vertical ascent wrote:I finally had success with this bullet. I am getting an average of 1736fps
- Our Copper Plated Bullets can be run at mid-range jacketed velocities or higher end lead velocities. We do not recommend velocities over 1500 FPS (Feet Per Second) and only a light taper crimp.

Re: X-Treme Bullets
Shot some (10 total) of the 150 grain RMR bullets through an AR. It was a mix of single shot and 2 rounds stacked in a mag.
13.8 Gr Lil'gun was good, 14.0 starting showing slight pressure signs, and 14.2 started showing more pressure signs (nothing major). I did not want to push past 14.2 for lack of a chrono though.
All functioned well and held the bolt back on last round.

Re: X-Treme Bullets
Range report: all fed fine, loaded 11 rounds a magazine, 100% function, BHO, no pressure signs, perfect. No test for accuracy yet.
Ammo:
Rem 300BLK brass (factory primed)
15.5, 16, 16.5, 17, 17.5, 18gr of IMR 4227
Lee case flare
150gr .308 plated Xtreme bullets
OAL 2.042"
Lee FCD
Rifle:
AR-15
CMMG 12.5" barrel cut to 11.5"
20rd M3 PMAG
30rd M3 PMAG
A2 stock
Plain ol' rifle buffer
After testing was completed, I ran 15 rounds at 16.0gr in a 20rd M3 PMAG through the rifle with an AAC Cyclone. Sexy.
15.5gr load with a longer COAL was gotten from a member here. I looked it up in Quickload with my data for my brass and my rifle and I'm not your lawyer, ask your doctor if Blackout is right for you, etc and got a max load of 19.5 or so.

Re: X-Treme Bullets
Good info Twinsen ^^^
I have some Xtreme bullets and 4227 and have a F1 chrony purchased and expected to be delivered this week. I will try and get some speeds and test for accuracy this weekend using your test data.
Curious, on a scale of 1-10, what was your crimp pressure? (I also have the Lee FCD)

Re: X-Treme Bullets
I'll say 6 or 7/10 if 5/10 is what is suggested by Lee. I went a bit further so that they looked like factory crimped ammo and because by increasing crimp a bit I could keep COAL decently unchanged by cycling dummy rounds many times.
Scientific, right?
I just want to load up hundreds of them and go shoot. I don't want to mount a scope and do accuracy testing! Wahh.

Right, well you do the dirty work of making sure the gun doesnt blow up and I will take your scientific data and see if it is accurate enough to kill zombies?
Fair enough?
Re: X-Treme Bullets
Good. As long as the end goal relates to zombies, I'm in.
Re: X-Treme Bullets
Ammo:
LC convert to 300BLK (trimmed to 1.358)
CCI 400 Primer
15.5 IMR 4227
150gr .308 plated Xtreme bullets
OAL 2.050" (Note .008 longer than Twinsens OAL)
Lee FCD
Rifle:
AR-15 Pistol
Spikes Tactical 10" 1/8 twist
10rd M3 PMAG
30rd M3 PMAG
A2 Buffer
I chrono'ed 5 rounds with a very light crimp and 5 rds with a very heavy crimp. (Notice very little difference in FPS based on the crimp)
I loaded 50 rds with the above data (half with light crimp and half with heavy crimp). Every round feed fine, 100% function, BHO and no pressure signs.
Heavy crimp (9 on a scale of 1-10): 1543, 1503, 1519, 1512, 1510.
Light crimp (3 on a scale of 1-10): 1544, 1507, 1525, 1528, 1494.
Note: My scope mount came loose after the first couple of rds and best I could do is tighten it by hand. They all hit a 8x11 sheet of paper at 50 yards

To each their own, but in my experience crimping harder than necessary into plated bullets only causes them to peel quicker.vux wrote: Heavy crimp (9 on a scale of 1-10): 1543, 1503, 1519, 1512, 1510.

Re: X-Treme Bullets
I'm a new reloader and until I tested the theory I didn't have the experience. I do now and based on the results, see no reason to apply anything more than a light crimp to plated bulletsgolfindia wrote:To each their own, but in my experience crimping harder than necessary into plated bullets only causes them to peel quicker.vux wrote: Heavy crimp (9 on a scale of 1-10): 1543, 1503, 1519, 1512, 1510.
