What diameter cast for AAC Handi?

Post by SAWebbShooter »

Bought a 300 BLK AAC Handi, brass, dies, Sheridan gauge and started making a few dummies. I have lots of different 32 pistol bullets, a box of .311 cast 170gr rnfp bullets and a .30 cal. Lyman M-type expander. Nothing would chamber in the Sheridan gauge without running the bullets through a .309 push through sizer first. What diameter are other Handi shooters sizing their cast bullets?

Did you try the 311 bullets to see if they would chamber in your gun?

.310 is usually a safe place to start for cast in a 30 cal gun.

I tried .311 and it wouldn't chamber in the Sheridan gauge or the rifle's chamber. I tried with both new Jamison head stamped brass and LC converted brass I bought from Grumpa. Both batches of brass gauged fine unloaded. When I resized my .313 115gr. and my .311 170gr. To .309 they chambered fine. I'm thinking of opening up the push through to .310, but maybe I should test fire some .309'rounds and see how they group before I do. If the accuracy is ok, I'll leave it alone.
