Re: 125 grain serria match king 300 blackout
oh okay a guy on Facebook said the max load he found was 18.3 so i didn't want to blow anything up lol but let me know how that goes tomorrow for sure.
Re: 125 grain serria match king 300 blackout
I used a load that I got from "a guy on Facebook" one time and damn near blew up my gun. I learned the hard way to work up slowly to maximum loads. I don't use Facebook myself, so you can trust my loads.
A couple of tenths of H110 can make a BIG difference in pressure.

I tested some 110's with IMR4227 last week. All 5-round groups. Best groups were with 18.5g...consistently under 1" at 50 yards with one group you could completely cover all 5 rounds with a quarter.
A close 2nd was with 18g.
COL on both was 1.992"

I got a chance to go play today. I tried the SMK loads at the end of the day and was tired and HOT! The gun had about 100 rounds through it when I shot this group and was also pretty HOT. Even so, it didn't do too badly. 1.658" - .308" = 1.35" or just about 1.3 MOA at 100 yards. The first two shots were touching and I got cocky.

17.5 gr H110; 2.250" COL (just fits in the mag); Scope was Primary Arms 4-14X44 FFP set at 10X. Temp was 94 degrees with light and variable winds. Humidity somewhere around OMG! Shots were from a sandbag at the front and only shoulder support at the stock -- sitting. Gun has a CMMG 16" WASP barrel with a carbine gas system. Trigger is a JP Enterprises JPFC-1 set at 4.25#. Shooter is old, fat, and half-blind. When I was younger, could see, and in shape, I was a sharpshooter for a CA Sheriff's department, so I know what I'm SUPPOSED to do.

Re: 125 grain serria match king 300 blackout
I only made up 20 because I didn't want to have to pull a bunch if it didn't work well. Now I'm comfortable with this load, but I'll probably back off the COL to 2.20" just to get a little more clearance in the magazine. I had no feeding problems at all.WilliamSS2025 wrote:haha i know how you feel about the being blind and humidity in the omg levels

I use the Lee Factory Crimp die and it works very well. Did not think a roll crimp would be effective with jacketed bullets.jc10311 wrote:I'm not a reloading expert, but I don't think that changing the COL from 2.125 to 2.210 or 2.250 makes much difference in the maximum load. I've had some really bad experiences I use RCBS dies, so the bullet seating and crimping are done in one step. I set the die by backing out the bullet seating rod and putting a cartridge in the press. I run the ram all the way up then turn the die down until I feel it hit the cartridge. I Back out the ram and then give the die 1/2 more turn. With one full turn past just touching, I can see a light roll crimp and that's what I'm trying to avoid.WilliamSS2025 wrote:jc10311 wrote:I loaded up some with H110 at a COL of 2.125 (kinda short, but shot and cycled fine).
Chrony: Shooting Chrony Beta Master; 10' from muzzle.

All brass was mixed head stamp, but mostly LC.
Shooting was done at 100 yards using a bipod and no rear bag.

I saw no pressure signs at 17.5, so you could probably go a little higher, but I won't. I believe that the Hodgdon manual lists 17.8 grains as the max, but I may be wrong.
I've loaded 20 with 17.5 gr H110 and a COL of 2.25" [SAAMI spec max is 2.26"] to see how accuracy is affected. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to shoot them tomorrow (Saturday).
if i load @2.210 ( read that was AAC recommendation) do you think 17.8 would still be the max? i'm new to loading... and when you say light crimp what do you mean.. i got the lee factory crimp die but i'm not really sure how how much that thing really does...
I didn't get a chance to try my 2.250 loads today. Just as I was getting stuff together a thunderstorm rolled in. Maybe tomorrow.
