Re: New Hornady 125 gr .308 Cal SST
I was able to grab 200 of these this past week. I called Hornady yesterday and they recommend COL 2.100. I have 10 of these in the oven as we speak loaded with 19gr. of Lil'Gun. I plan to chrono and paper this small batch this weekend.

Loaded and shot 100 rounds. Worked up from 16 to 17.5.
OAL 2.15
No pressure signs
Fed perfect
No chrono yet
H110
Wish they would come out with a 110gr

I am still playing around with crimp pressure or none at all but I have got 1 in at 100 with my gun. About the same average as bjames maybe a bit higher, 2105.

I've been trying to see if anyone has found a sweet spot using how much H110 and COL. Anyone? I only have so many primers left!
LC once fired
H110 18.5 gr
I can measure em over the weekend if you havent already got it dialed.

So I leave for texas tomorrow afternoon on a hog hunting trip.
I'll be taking some of the 125 sst along with my barnes 130 ttsx, so hopefully I'll have some good things to report next week.

Re: New Hornady 125 gr .308 Cal SST
Glad to hear the promising results with this bullet, since I have 10 boxes of them. I shot 30 of them Saturday using 3 different powders and had no malfunctions. I'm not as good a shooter with a red dot as I am with crosshairs, but was still getting just over an inch with Lil Gun, H110, and 5744 at 50 yards. Don't remember the loads offhand...and my data isn't here at work with me. Looks like this will be a good hunting bullet, though. I'll chrony some at some point, but bow season opened today, so I'll not be spending much time at the range until after mid-January.

I bought a box of these.....Hornady's book shows a max load of 20.0gr of Lil Gun...we shot 2 of them today loaded at 19.5...they went straight, no pressure signs....we were actually shooting some Sierra Pro Hunters 125gr at an 8" gong 150yrds away and I wanted to compare them....my rifle shoots super straight I am just trying to figure out where I should load them at...I am backing off on my loads....a little bit anyway

Here is a link on some data I put together. I have been running 21.5gr A2200, COL 2.10" from a 9" pistol build and I love the round.

I don't have chronograph data yet but will be getting some this week hopefully. I think it's pushing around 1850fps and I know they are accurate as I've had sub moa at 100 yards. I've also pushed them out to 415 yards hitting oxygen cylinders no problem. I have yet to get the opportunity to provide a very bad day for a coyote(tough calling here in Utah) but I'm certain when one meets my SST load it will for sure be lights out. I'm also confident int he round to push it out to the 400 yards to put one down. I guess we'll see and you'll see as well once I get the opportunity.

Excellent comparison!!300Blk wrote:They are about the same as the Nosler 125 BT but a flat base and maybe a bit more optimal for feeding.
Hopefully, another batch of 125 SST's will be produced soon. Maybe we'll even some blems this time around
