Load Catalog: Supersonic H110, 110gr through 150gr

Post by bamachem »

This thread is a compilation of "Pet Loads" that others have contributed for publication. No chat and no discussion of loads. You can provide a link in your post for the "workup" of the load if you choose to post one.

Any loads listed are what have worked for others, but does not mean that they will work for you or your specific firearm. Pet Loads are NOT a shortcut nor a quick and cheap way to escape the sometimes tedious task of load development. Load development means starting with a LOWER powder charge and working up to that "Pet Load" in a safe and methodical manner, always checking for signs of overpressure along the way. NEVER take a "Pet Load" and use it as a starting point.

In order to be considered for publication, you can submit your information in the following format:

Rifle Used
Barrel Maker, Contour, Gas Length/Port Size (if known)
Barrel Length and Twist
Magazine Brand/Size
Bullet Used (grain, manufacturer, type)
Powder Charge and Brand
Case Used
Primer Used
COAL
Chronograph Velocity, if known or manual velocity, if known.
Any issues or problems, Failure to Fire, Failure to Feed, Failure to Eject, etc. Keep it short.
Link to your "workup" thread

This is an example of a load that I worked up in my AR:
AR15
AR Stoner, Med Contour, Carbine
16", 1:8 5R
MagPul PMAG, 30RD & Custom 10RD (cut down 30RD mag)
110 gr Hornady V-Max
19.6gr Hodgdon Lil'Gun
LC 5.56, reformed to 300BLK
CCI 450 Small Mag
2.10"
2350 FPS (estimated, manual)
Zero Issues so far. All feed, fire, and eject fine.
N/A

Please ensure that your load info is in this format when submitted. Any loads that are incomplete are subject to deletion at any time.

Again, no chat or discussion allowed. Chat and discussion should be done in your individual "workup" thread that you link to.

Thanks!

125gr speer TNT

17gr H110 : 2035 2048 2070
18gr H110 : 2086 2085 2100 2129
19gr H110 : 2136 2214 2207 2214
15.7 LilGun: 1999 2057 2041 2076 2070

I noticed one thing, after every shot velocity goes up, I'm assuming the barrel gets warmer and warmer.

I did't mess with checking for best grouping since it was windy as hell. I guess we'll try that next weekend.

16'' barrel, cci primers, LC brass, 30rd pmags, 2.08 OAL

Custom built mutt AR
16" Noveske 1:7, pistol gas w/ adjustable gas
Magpul magazine
Hornady 125 SST bullets (measured projectile length roughly 1.040")
H-110 powder
CCI400 primers
COL: 2.115" (allows use of provided cannelure)
Brass: LC brass from Bradswarehouse (avg measured fired volume 24.3gr of water) trimmed to 1.352"
Used Lee Factory Crimping Die

My QuickLOAD program produced the below estimated values:

Powder Load (gr) est. muz velocity (fps) est. max pressure (psi)
15.6----------------1875---------------------32910
16.0----------------1920---------------------35284
16.4----------------1966---------------------37835
16.8----------------2011---------------------40579
17.0----------------2033---------------------42028
17.2----------------2056---------------------42531
17.4----------------2078---------------------45092
17.6----------------2100---------------------46712
17.8----------------2123---------------------48395
18.0----------------2145---------------------50142

Actual measured velocities at 45F outside, at a distance of approx 5yds from chrony. Each loading was done with 4 rounds. Chrony being used was a Cabela's Beta Chrono.

Powder Load (gr) velocity (fps)
15.6----------------1870, 1998, 1877, 1880
16.0----------------1878, 1911, 1936, 1960
16.4----------------1943, error, 2060, 2007
16.8----------------2054, 2011, 2024, 2011
17.0----------------2096, 2115, 2085, 2061
17.2----------------2052, 2066, 2059, 2138
17.4----------------2048, 2128, error, error
17.6----------------2155, 2062, 2085, 2192
17.8----------------2107, 2120, error, 2110
18.0----------------2100, 2114, 2159, 2148

I saw no visible pressure signed in any of these loadings.

I ran the 17.8gr loads again @ 90F, and was very impressed. Average of 5 rounds was 2148fps and ES was less than 20fps through 5 rounds. ***(7/20/13)shot these rounds again today at 90F and these suckers are flying even faster at 2200fps. No pressure signs but dang, not sure why the increase.
