I loaded up 4 groups of 5 rounds with 123 grain FMJ pulled bullets COAL 2.060 but had issues with rounds made from PMP head stamped brass that would not chamber so none of the groups had 5 fired pounds. These were shot from my 16" 1:7 carbine gas AR. Here's my results shot over an older PACT PC2 w/ Mark IV shy screens.

Power Pistol 300-MP powder

19 grains
2280
2235
2225
2209

20 grains
2310
2289
2305
2303

20.5 grains
2330
2303
2276
2301

21 grains
2350
2339

Overall average FPS for all the groups was 2311.

I think this powder is the best yet when it comes to velocity. Accuracy was good as I was hitting a 8"x15" swinging steel plate at 100yds. Nothing like ringing the gong while testing your loads.I plan on working up more loads with this powder as I hope to work up 150 grain hunting loads.

Ramdiesel, what grain load would you start at for 150 grain bullets?

Not a problem there RD. More work hrs means more $$ for bullets n powder later.

It'll be a few weeks before I can get back to this project. I'm looking forward to more load development with this powder and 25 and 150 grain pills. So for so good.

I wish I could find some good ole 125 grain Remington Core-Lokts PSP's as I think they would be a very nice hunting round. Once longer 125-150 bullets are made for this caliber then we'll really be able to push them a little harder IMO.

Happy n Safe shooting!

Hey Smoke. I just picked up my Bench Source on monday. I've used it long enough to burn all the hair off my right hand making adjustments, blisetred finger tips. Them blackout cases got HOT!! Who would have thought
I was going to order some black tips but just can't stomach $66 a 100.

LMK how that Annealing Machine works out. I've not gone down that garden path yet.

$66 /100 for Black tips is not for me for plinking. I did stumble on to a box of Hornady InterLock Bullets 7.62x39mm (310 Diameter) 123 Grain SST Boat Tail Box of 100 at one of my local reloading shops for $37. Still steep in my book but still good for some testing and hunting loads. I did find some old Rem 125g PSP from a guy in the classified. They just were dropped off postal. They are not as long and tappered in the ogive as the 150's I have. I'm sure they'll still shoot but not what I'd hoped for in bullet shape.

More test loads to build with PP 300-MP and my 150g pills.

I think I remember subsonic loads in a 300 Whisper suppressed being close to 40" below supersonic. Somewhere I have a range journal on it in my pit I call a reloading room(actually entire basement)...

Just wanting to bump this up to see if anyone has anything new to offer on 300-MP.

I've not had the time to continue from where I left off on development from my last post on it.

I feel that this could be THE supersonic powder for the 300BLK. I got great velocities but do know that more time on the bench w/ the chrony will add to that so we can see where SD and ES lies with different loads. I wish Alliant would wake up and offer some info on load pressure data. With "300" in the powder name they could be sitting on a great marketing opportunity!

I've shot LOT's of super and subsonic loads through 300 BLK & Whisper, and I agree with this statement. So much so that I ordered 8 lbs. of it, which should last me for a very long time. It's probably all I will ever use for supersonic. For ultimate accuracy and consistency, VVN110 is also a very good powder, but does not get the velocity that 300 MP does.

This powder shows a lot of promise for the 300 BLK. I just loaded up some 140 grain Hornady Monoflex bullets. 10 shot strings averaged 1907fps out of my rifle. Specs listed below:

Rifle:

[*]Noveske 8" N4 with VLTOR A5 buffer system using a YHM 7.62 Ti can

Load and chrono data

[*]17.2 grains 300MP, Lake City brass, Winchester small rifle primers, COAL 1.975", average velocity over 10 round string was 1907 fps.

Absolutely no signs of over pressure and cycled flawlessly. This bullet was designed for the 30-30 Winchester and my understanding is that it is designed to expand at lower velocities.

Groups were 1" or less at 100 yards.

Now I just need to find a deer or pig to volunteer to take one for the team for testing purposes. 8)

On a side note, I also loaded up some in my 454 Casull to shoot in my 7.5" Ruger Super Redhawk. I had previously been using H110 so I loaded up some of the 300MP for comparison purposes.

Using max load data from Hodgdon and Alliant, I saw an average of 70fps increase using the 300MP over the H110. Again, no signs of pressure and as an extra side benefit, the brass was super clean. I have never seen brass clean enough to load a second pass without cleaning (I am admittedly picky about having super clean brass, others may not be so picky).
