Howdy.
Before I make the purchase I want to make sure I am buying the right powders. I will be building a 16" gun with a Noveske barrel. The twist is 1:7. I will be shooting it suppressed from time to time. My can is a AAC 762SDN6.
What is a good powder for subsonic loads? A1680?
How about for supersonic? H110?
What bullet weight should I go with for Supersonic/subsonic loads?
Are standard small rifle primers ok to use?
Thanks. Sorry for the newbie questions. I'm learning.

do some searching. There are multiple threads on the first page of this forum that have the exact answers to your questions. There is a 40 page thread with reloading data in it.
Re: Powders for 300 Blk Out
I found those threads after I posted. I started reading through them but have to find the info on 16" uppers. There is a lot of misc info in them!

Re: Powders for 300 Blk Out
Hodgdon Lil'Gun yields the highest velocities at the lowest pressures with: 110gr, 125gr, 130gr, and 135gr, bullets, and is suitable for sub-sonic loads. Hodgdon On-line Reloading Center http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp gives you loads and pressures all from a 16" barrel. My rifle is a 16" DD Ambush.... IMHO, YMMV...

Whats the deal with the Trail Boss powder? Doesn't seem to take much powder??
Re: Powders for 300 Blk Out
not acceptable in AR15 type guns. Wont cycle the action from what I read.Tothemax! wrote: Whats the deal with the Trail Boss powder? Doesn't seem to take much powder??

Re: Powders for 300 Blk Out
It is very fluffy, designed for low velocity and very bulky to take up space in cartridges. Doesn't have the gas volume to cycle gas systems.
Re: Powders for 300 Blk Out
what about a1680?I thought that was suppose to be a good powder to use. dont know am just asking.
Re: Powders for 300 Blk Out
I've used A1680 just fine for subsonic - L1A1 suggested A5744 as it's purportedly quieter through a suppressor. Both cycle and lock just fine.
