Looking for a load for the Nosler 125Gr Ball. Tip for 300BLK. Called Nosler and they said they were "working on it" so I figured I would try here.

Anyone have a good load?

Western published these data, including loads for the 125 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip using three different powders:

Image

These loads are included in the "mock-Lyman Handbook" pages of loads that I drew up, provided as a PDF download in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=141&t=80445

And the PDF includes loads also for the 125 Nosler BT using H110, Lil Gun and IMR 4227 powders.

I just bought a bunch of these. Cabelas had them on sale for $15 per 50 and also had a $20 off $150 rebate code offer on their website (shipping was free as I have them ship to the store near me). My most accurate/fast load so far is 18.2gr of H110 with a CCI450 primer, loaded to 2.085" OAL. It shoots under an inch at 100 yards out of my 16" barrel. I'm just starting to see very faint ejector circles once in a while at 18.2 while 18.3gr starts giving me some shiny ejector marks. Wish I had some chrono data I could give but my chronograph is giving me too many unrealistic numbers when I put supers over it. I really want to get my hands on a Magnetospeed...

Edit: And of course, after seeing the heavier loads posted (which I've seen before up to 20+ grains of H110), I'm going to jack the powder up and see what it does.

Don't blow your stuff up after reading my post. I am not a reloading engineer and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

18.5 gr H110 with 125 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. Killed lots and lots of whitetails with it. Great accuracy when I am having a good day. This was my load going back to 2001 when I shot a 300 whisper. It was a great load for the Whisper and is a great load for the 300 Blackout.

I've ended up with 2 loads. Any new BLK bbl I get is tried with both, and I haven't found an instance yet in which the bbl wouldn't like at least one of them. I own 5 BLK bbls.

Formed brass
125gr Nosler BT
Wolf/Tula KVB223M primer
18.7gr H110
2.1" oal

Same as above except
19.0gr H110
2.2" oal

I use those primers, as I have lots of them; they are supposed to have a harder cup and be slightly hotter than standard Wolf/Tula small rifle primers. Other primers would probably do just as well, as a few shots with standard small rifle primers showed no difference. These loads are for 300 Blackout bbls and may give high pressure if used in a Whisper bbl. The oal can make a difference in feeding and velocity.

Kind of strange. I've stepped up my charge (just shot some yesterday at 18.5 and today at 18.7 grains) and stopped seeing anything that looked like the occasional, light ejector marks I was getting at 18.3. Haven't seen any distinct changes in accuracy but my groups did seem to open up a little going from 18.5 to 18.7 grains.

I have only tested one load using Nosler 125 BT's using Hodgdon H110 powder, RP 7 1/2 primers, in LC 2005 brass sized in Hornady dies. Overall length was 2.060". My load at 17.5 grains got 2155-2159 fps in a 16" carbine barrel. This load did show slight horseshoe case head ejector marks in my rifle. Temperature was in the 60"s using an Oehler 35p chrono at 10 ft. Hodgdon powder company lists 17.8 grains of H110 as maximum with the Nosler 125 BT at the overall length of 2.060". Just start low and work up as this is my first test. Velocity is in the expected range with this load.

Let me add this.

Pressures and velocities go up as the oal is shortened, so pay attention the over all lengths that are listed. I posted elsewhere that I got 3 deer with 1 shot each last month using the Noslers. All bullets expanded. Measured deer hit distances were from 50 yd to 187 yd. The 187 yd hit was about 12 yd farther than the velocity for optimum performance (per Nosler), but the bullet expanded just fine; that bullet was recovered; it penetrated about 14 inches of deer; others were complete penetrations, the longest being 18" of deer. At this time, I will continue to use this bullet for deer hunting. I have found it to be nicely accurate in my rifles. I've never had a failure to chamber in my AR's.

Tried the 19 grains of H110, with the Wolf primers, at 2.2" OAL. No real pressure signs in my 8.2" Noveske, but accuracy was crap at around 3" @ 100 yards. I wasn't expecting that.

Guess I'll do a test box with different powder weights.
