I have been shooting 150 grain nos bt with 17 grains of 110 out of a 16" barrel. My wife took it out (without permission but I am glad she did) and shot a 135" 200 pound 8 point. The bullet went throught the shoulder and into the heart at less than 30 yards. I was reading a few posts on here about switching to lil gun (i dont like the 110 static) and now I am wanting to hear some opinions on switching bullets. I know balistic tips are great for down range shooting but am I wasting my money thinking I am hitting a deer with a larger flatter bullet at shorter distances (100-200max). So my question is, For hunting deer and hogs is there a 125-135 grain bullet that would serve my purpose better taking in consideration amount of expansion, bullet weight, energy, and velocity? I have only seen one deer shot with it and had it been at 100+ yards I don't think this would have ever crossed my mind.
Thanks.

I wonder how the Hornady 150gr flex tips would work? They are made for the 30-30, so might work at 300 blk velocities as well?

A thread about loading the Hornady 160 grain "Leverevolution" 30-30 FTX (Hornady #30395) for 300 BLK can be found here:

Since it appears Hornady indicated "good" expansion down to 1500 fps, it looks to have potential.
Regarding 125 - 130 grain loads, I've read a few posts from folks using the 125 grain Nosler BT (Nosler #30125), and the Sierra Pro-Hunter 125 grain spire point (Sierra #2120) indicating they work well with small/medium deer & hog. The Sierra's go for about $24 per 100 at Midway.

I took a deer with the 125 nosler BT at 206 yards and dropped it like a sack of potatoes. Not hand loads but fps in 10 inch barrel. 2134fps. I have loaded 125 and 110 and tested out to 355 yards and all very accurate. Also tested subsonic 208 a max out to 210 yards. My videos are on you tube
