Need Loads for 8" barrel

Post by Harley08 »

I can not seem to get the speeds out of my 8" Noveske barrel
I am loading 125gr bullet using 19.5grs of H110 powder average = 2000 fps.
Is this what others are getting?
The barrel is new I have put 100 rds thru it
Shooting it from an M4.
Thanks for any help.

19. 3 grains h110 and 110 gr v-max @ 2.05oal = 2030 fps for me at 800 feet above sea level and 85 degrees.

Best load I have found so far . Consistently well under an inch at 100 yards.

Do you factory crimp the v max? I ask because of reported set back issues and possibly projectiles coming out of the case.

Sounds about right. RSilvers wrote, "Remington Match 125 grain is 2010 fps in an AAC 9 inch, so the Nosler 125 should be about the same."

125gr Nosler Ballistic Tip
Wolf KVB223M primers
LC military formed brass
no crimp
2.2" oal

9.5" Core15 bbl with 19.0gr H110 gives me 1995fps.

10.3" DCA bbl with 19.0gr H110 gives me 2077fps.

So your load with a half grain more powder, but a shorter barrel giving 2000fps sounds about right to me also.

If I could only find a decent m80 147 gr load for a 8inch Noveske I would be a happy man.

 Whoa. My Hornady manual shows a max of 16.2 grains of H110 for 300 Whisper. You might be safe going up another half grain for the BLK if you want to push it. I had a case head separation with 18 grains of W296 (basically H110) due to trying to get a faulty rifle to cycle. Be safe out there!
