Re: Lil-gun vs h110??
LillGun so far for me has been a little more consistent.
Long distance, the next best thing to being there!
Re: Lil-gun vs h110??
I'm going to load up some Lil' Gun loads with the Barnes 110 Black Tip. I'm not sure which primer to go with, I have 3 choices available. I have Fed 205M, Remington 7 1/2, and Wolf Small Rifle Magnums. Has anyine used these with Lil' Gun and what would be the benefit of one over the others?
Re: Lil-gun vs h110??
I'd be really surprised if you notice any difference with any of those primers.

Re: Lil-gun vs h110??
I have been working with both powders for a few weeks now. Using a 16 in Wilson Combat upper, Barnes TAC-TX 110 bullets with Remington factory brass out of a 20 round P-Mag. Best groups from Lil-gun was using 19.0 grains with Winchester small rifle primer, set to 2.1950 oal, Shot consistent 1 inch groups at 100 yds. On the H 110 powder I got the best groups with 18.5 grains with the Winchester small rifle primers, set to 2.1950 oal. I got 3/4 inch groups with the 18.5 load, tried 18 and the group was about 1 3/4, then the 18.5 which was 3/4 inch and then went to 19 grains and the groups opened up and were all over the target. Did not notice any pressure signs in any of the loads tested. Don't own a crony to test velocity. All the brass was prepped like I always have in my benchrest days.
Re: Lil-gun vs h110??
On the Lil-gun vs h110 question: I've noticed two significant differences between these two powders in my 11" AR pistol, with supersonic 110 and 125gr loads.
- H110/296 is definitely louder. I like the reduced blast of Lil'Gun, at the same velocity levels.
- At top loads, Lil'Gun produces wider variation in velocity, and the first round in a cold bore is generally 100fps+ faster than the rest. This may just be my gun, but I'd sure like to figure out why. H110 does not do this in my loads, although both powders give larger ES than I'd like.

Nobody searches past page 1 in handloading?
Pretty detailed loads - semi auto, 9" barrel, pistol gas system though.

Feel free to add your results or start a dedicated thread to your rifle length, gas system, bullet weight, etc.
Reloading could use help with some organization. , so don't be shy.
Have a 10½" and a 16" to test as well. Have to build the 10½. I'll test with Lil'Gun, RE7, IMR4198 and post those results. Eventually.
Stays subsonic and cycles my rifle . . . burns clean - 90+% . . . uses less powder and has lower pressures at the higher velocties, but about the same velocity as H110 overall.
A sub load of Lil'Gun is 9.0g vs 9.9 of H110 and that's 10% so load 5,000 rounds, you'll get 500 extra using Lil'Gun. Using 220g Sierra Match King, bullets along cost $185, so every little bit helps (you still have to buy the bullets).
I did a comparison of some primers:

Lots of people knock it, but if you look at Hodgdon's site, it's listed (and works) on both ends of the spectrum.

Temp and pressure I know nothing about; I did call Hodgdon and asked a few questions, but not that one. They have a toll free number and are very helpful.
Other popular powders: A-A1680, RE7, IMR4198 and (I think) H4227. A-A1680 is preferred by many and AAC recomends it.
I like Lil'Gun; it works well and I expect it will perform well in my other two rifles.
