Swaging

Post by xmtysonxm »

Is it possible to swage a Hornady .357 XTP to .308 cal? I really want some expanding hollowpoints. The 220 grain round nose interlocks just don't open up. The A-max doesn't really open up either. I have shot the 240grain cast bullets but not with my suppressor on. The other day I was reloading some .357 and was curious how difficult it would be to swage a 180gr XTP down to .308. Also if it were possible, where would one buy a swaging tool like this? Or should we request Hornady to make some for us?

There are 4 companies that make bullets that open up at sub velocities. All do a good job in different ways. CASTBOOLITS has a swaging section and BT SNIPER on there will make you about anything. And yes it is possible - just need a GOOD press.
