I have a ton of these sitting around and hope that you guys can give me some good news!!

I would like to get a good subsonic load using these bullets, but if I am forced to use 200 grain + rounds to get a consistent round that cycles my gun I guess I'll have to go that route.
My upper cycles 178 Amax and 180 grain SP like a champ but it has a pistol length gas system and and adjustable gas block. But I think the gas system length has more to do with its' consistency because I haven't touched the gas block and it runs both subsonic and supersonic in these weights. But I may be wrong.

Awesome! What powder and what charge are you using?

Here is mine,

16" Wilson Combat Recon stainless carbine gas length 1/8 twist.

The following is my load:

150 grn FMJ bullet
17 grains of H110
Winchester Primer / small rifle
Case: I cut down and formed my own from mixed commercial and military brass. I used Lee dies to help form my brass. You can use factory brass if you want. I just wanted to try my own formed brass for the results.
Case length before loading is 1.360. I used a factory Remington case as a guide for my formed brass.

side note: Lee dies do not have load data when you get them at least mine did not. I got mine last week from MidwayUSA.
Twistomatic and some Black Magic.

IIRC, I threw the same powder charge for the 178. Primers were CCI. These shot just under 2 MOA.

Bullet: Hornady 208 a-max for all groups listed

The left hole in this pic had two bullets go through it.

I am obviously trying for a subsonic hunting load. Went out yesterday and 11.1 and 11.2grains with COL of 2.14 was too fast. Did some searching to see how big of a deal bullet seating depth has on performance and found arguments from both camps. My gun likes 2.24 more than sticking it deaper in the case.

Here is my load data close to what cliff developed:

130 grain pulled federal barrier blind sost
18 grains h110
Oal 2.050.... The crimp to the notch closest to the tip

No chrono data but primers looked fine and rifle cycles were fine

Out of a 16" DS arms chrome-moly barrel.

Had to shoot at 25m to sight my rifle in, but shots were on top of each other.

Looks good. I wasn't impressed with the accuracy when crimped in the bottom groove. I think I load a few crimped in the top groove and check accuracy. I'll load some of your loads and mine and try to chronograph this week.

Haven't seen much in the way of data for a Noveske 8" Rogue Hunter/Diplomat. Here's what I have so far.. Unfortunately, the new chrony's still en route.
Mostly function checking to get a feel for the l'il beast.
Using SMK 220's, Rem brass and CCI primers. All thru a SWR Omega 30 Suppressor.

H110-
  • 9.7gr (Didn't note the clicks) was sub but didn't cycle the action.
10.5gr Went super and still didn't cycle the action.???
H4198-
  • 21.5cl/11.4gr Sub/Cycles/No lockback.
    22.5cl/12gr Sub/Cycles/Locks back
    23.5cl/12.6gr Super
The H4198 was very quiet, burned clean, and seems to be about perfect for the case capacity available with the 220's @ 2.125 OAL. Which is just this side of a useless measurement actually. Not so bad on MK's, but a friggin PITA with soft or polymer tipped bullets.
My comparator was borrowed and is yet to be returned.

Can't really say about accuracy as I was free handing it mostly. But at 30ish yards picking off little 2" pieces of broken ceramic tile I had propped up for a bit of target practice while I was piddlin were easy enough to hit.
Looking forward to some real range/load development time here shortly. This was in the little back yard range. More components on the way. Thanks for your help so far, fellas.!! d:^) Schneeks..

Powders faster than A1680 will not reliably cycle, load data for H110 is fine for bolt guns.
