Do you folks have any plans on making a Switchblock for the .300BLK?-k- wrote:If you have a gas port designed for the 300W/300-221 you don't need 1680, in fact it might run faster than optimal.
No reason to use an exotic powder designed for cast bullet loads in large cases, just use old 300W data.

8" Noveske barrel. These may go supersonic in longer barrels, but stayed subsonic in my 8" barrel and shot better groups with all loads than other lengths and powder weights did from my barrel. 208gr was a toss up in group size from 10.5gr and 11.2gr with both having 3 rounds in almost one hole at 50 yards.
220gr Outlaw State Bullets
Remington 7.5 primer
11.2gr A1680
2.120" COAL
220gr SMK
Remington 7.5 Primer
11.2gr A1680
2.120" COAL
208gr AMAX
Remington 7.5 primer
11.2gr A1680
2.120" COAL
May start working on a load for 110gr VMAX if the bug hits....but only initially became interested in this caliber for subsonic loads.

Can you tell me how well the Outlaw bullets grouped? I ordered some and have an 8" Noveske and I am about to start working up a load.... any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

approx. 3/4" at 50 yards for 5 shots......not perfect, but considering the range I'll be shooting subsonics (50-75 yards, maybe 100 if I cant pass up the shot) and they are supposed to expand well....exceptible for me.loki*hunter wrote:eazenutz33 wrote:8" Noveske barrel. BTW....the bug for supersonic loads has somewhat passed. I have a .308 I'm really wanting to use for deer this year as well, and if I'm hunting an area where shots are over 75-100 yards, I'm taking it. So, I'm back to what I was originally only interested in....subsonic loads!
Taking 100-150 rounds out tomorrow to shoot with my 762SD during "visitation rights" from my dealer (87 days pending tomorrow), mostly 220gr SMK reloads and some factory Remington.

I am pretty much in the same boat. I keep some 110Vmax rounds loaded up in a couple of mags just for SHTF type situations...but the 300BLK is really a quiet sub gun to compliment my JPE LRP-07 .308 rifle. I loaded a bunch of 150 FMJBTs for plinking only because the subs are so expensive. Now that I have the NOE mold, I am going to try to cast some bullets and if they work out...they will be my plinkers and I probably will never shoot super sonic from that gun again.
How did the 220 SMKs group for you?

220's grouped fine....around 1/2" at 50yards with most rounds touching. The 208 AMAX grouped the best for me, one group was impossible to give a size as the rounds were ripping a slightly larger hole each time. I had to remove ME from the equation as much as possible to get that, but had good success.loki*hunter wrote:I am pretty much in the same boat. Rounds were loaded with Lee Challenger single stage and Lee powder dispenser.....so far, I've been very happy with consistency.
As far SHTF....not sure I would even toss my tiny 300BLK upper into a pack to take with me. Would likely be 5.56/.223 for most everything. The 300BLK upper may tag along in case its night time and something needs to be done quietly.

Best group to date used: 220gr matchking, 9gr h110, cci match primer, aac/remington brass (flash hole deburred and cases weighed/seperated, OAL 2.25
Rifle: remington 700, 18" douglass "varmint" barrel with a trident can
5 shots= .51" 4 of those shots measured .392. Best group I have shot out of any rifle this year

Anybody worked up loads for the NOE 247 grain lead projectile? Both super and sub?
Thanks,

I've got the best groups using 13 grains RE-7 with my noe plain base cast bullets.I get good groups using 11.2 grains 1680 with the gas check bullets. The RE-7 load shoots half to 1 inch groups at 50 yards from my DCA upper with a 3x10 scope on it.It shoots the same size groups with hornady 130SP's using 18 grains 296.I use rem primers.
Re: Share your 300 Blackout Loads here>
9.5Gr W296
240 SMK
2.210 OAL
Average 980fps
5 shots within 1/2" at 50yds
Tikka T3 bolt rebarreled with 16" blackout.
9.0 shot to same point of aim (and accuracy) but velocity down to around 940fps
17.2Gr W296
125 Nosler BT
2.060 OAL
Average 2070 FPS
5 shots within inch square at 100yds
CCI BR4 primers for both loads. Handy loading with only one powder and no gas cycling to worry about.
Finally got to shoot some more of these while testing the 130 TTSX, along with a couple of 220 SMK loaded up with 9.4 of W296:
Had to shoot at 70yds due to stock in the paddocks. Off a bipod, no rear bag. Mark AR 3-9
10 round groups
240 SMK/2.220/9.6 W296
Max 1.094"/1.492 MOA
Average to centre .365"/.498MOA
Height .857" Width .680"
125 BT/2.060/17.2 W296
Max.958"/1.307 MOA
ATC .346"/.472"
Height .958" Width .361"
First time out for a while, looking forward to getting out to the 100yd and see if I can achieve the same results or even tighten them up a bit.
Subs hit 12/12 at swinging target (prairie dog) that i got last visit to the US (about 2.5" width, 6" high) free hand at 50 yd. Should be able to headshoot deer with that.
