I have 16" AR-15 300 BLK upper carbine gas operated.
M80 pulled 147gr FMJBT bullet, I used A1680, 21.4gr. OAL 2.19 inch.

No pressure sign.
Be careful. The powder almost fill the case. Next time, I will try 21.7gr of A1680.
No chrono data, sorry.

Model1 300BLK AR-15 carbine rifle 1:8 twist 16" bbl.

A1680 powder 24.0gr (compressed)
147gr M80 bullets, 150gr Hornady Soft Point, and 110gr Hornady V-max bullets
Wolf small rifle primers
OAL 2.24 inch~2.14 inch

Today I tested the rounds without any pressure sign. I think this is the max. load using A1680 and 147gr bullet due to case size. 150gr SP, 110gr V-max worked well also.

Don't try without your own risk!

The best powder for the 300 BLK. Happens to be the same for the 357 MAXIMUM for supersonic loads.

Win 680 which is no longer.. but A1680 is virtually the same.. a little better maybe. You can't seem to overload it in the Max case. Full compressed loads are OK... Will get a bunch of the A1680 for both!

Slick.. very similar in some ways

Any ideas for IMR SR 4759 (I just came into a bunch of it and the burn rate is close to H110). I was looking at NOE 47gr for a sub and 168gr in a super.

M2 Ball sub sonic bolt gun load

Post by JohnInNH »

Rifle= Micro7 16" barrel

Remington factory primed brass

M2 ball pulled bullets

Powder= Winchester 231

Summer load = 5.8 gr W231 avarage 1041 FPS, ES = 15 FPS, SD = 5 OAL = 2.2125

Cold weather load = 5.7 gr W231 average 1010 FPS, ES= 14, SD= 5 OAL = 2.2125

These loads were crimped with a Lee collet die. Group size = 1.6" at 75 yards five shots prone with bipod and bean bag rear.

5.6 gr had an average of 973 FPS, ES= 27, SD= 10.... 6 gr had an average of 1083 es in the 20's

So the two top loads are the sweet spot.

Now to work up a good supersonic load.

I just read from front to back while searching for 130 grain Hornady loads. This has turned out to be very good primer for 300 BLK. Take your time, read and ingest. Lot's of good input from every aspect of loading for this round.

Subsonic out of an AAC 9" upper. 208 gr AMAX with 10.7 gr of H4198. Cycled and locked back on last round. Average velocity was 985. Temperature was approximately 55.
