Any particular reason why?

The reason I ask is wideners has bulk Swiss powder that is basically IMR 4198, but I don't know the differences between the H version and IMR.

H has 1/2 the stick size. IMR has less hope of metering.

The Swiss stuff you are speaking of could be either.

Thanks Robert.

What is your preferred sub-sonic powder?

So far A1680 or RE7 for ARs and seems like 4198 is about the same but I have not done much testing.

1/4oz of RDX works nicely for supersonic. It will get a 220g up around 3,000 fps if you compress it reaaal good!

Robert IMR 4198 and Hodgdon H4198 have slightly different burning rates and are not 100% interchangeble load to load. I also think the extruded powder kernals are essentually the same dimention... perhaps you are thinking of H4198SC which stands for Short Cut?

Like anything else - start with a lot, over 11 grains, and then load down to 1000 fps.
