Yep. I've taken .001 off the expander that I use for AR's. Easy to do. Chuck the stem in your drill and hit it with 600 & up sandpaper. Check size often.
It could be overkill, but all drills have a little runout, so I will loosen and rotate the stem 90 degrees every few seconds until it's sized correctly. That way I'm pretty confident I don't introduce (much) eccentricity.
