300 whisper sub-sonic bullets

Post by Redmt »

I'm having trouble finding a NON-lead 300 bullet. Does anybody have a suggestion or better yet a favorite bullet brand?

Solid copper won't work for whatever it is you're trying to do? But I'm pretty sure .300Whisper will push solid copper projectiles out the muzzle.

With more information I'm betting others will give much better help.

I'm not sure what information is needed,,,, but what I want is a sub-sonic, non-lead, hunting load. First off I need to figure what bullet to use and work out from there. The less noise made while whacking piggies, the more of them you can get before they scatter.

Big question is what you’re going to use it for? Is it a plinking, target or hunting round? There are a lot of bullets without lead but they’re certainly more expensive than lead or lead core bullets. Lehigh Defense and Barnes make some great non lead bullets but they’re not inexpensive especially if use is a plinking round.if it is hunting as you mentioned Lehigh Defense makes some great heavy .30 bullets that will expand at relatively low velocity.

Making the distinction of wanting to hunt helps. Almost every manufacturer out there make a “non toxic” bullet, but very few make on suitable for hunting at subsonic speeds.

Your two best choices will Lehigh defense, and Maker Bullets. Both have proven themselves very effective.
300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.
