Can I use 110gr V-Max data for 110gr FB tipped Varmegeddon 300blk?

Post by Musicman1eanda »

I was warned to definitely not use the 110gr Barnes TAC TX data, but is the VMAX data cross compatible with the 110gr Nosler varmegeddon I want to load?

Hogdon's site says to start with 19.9gr of Lil'Gun for 110 gr V-Max. https://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/rifle

Yes, you can use Hodgdon 110 grain Vmax data with the Nosler 110 Grain Varmegeddon as long as you start low and work up.

As far the the 110 Grain Barnes TAC TX data, you can use safely the Barnes data and substitute the Vmax and/or the Nosler 110's (but your velocities and pressures will be low) , but you can't use the VMax and Nosler 110 grain data as a subsitute for the Barnes 110 gr. TAC TX because your pressure will be off the charts, and your rifle could self-disassemble. Which is not a good thing BTW.....

Be safe and have fun......

The reason you can’t use the Barnes data is bullet length. It’s really tough to seat the varmageddon or VMax out to 2.260”.

If you adjust your COL to compensate for bullet length, they are interchangeable.
300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.
