How safe is running cast or coated through a suppressor?

My nomad is not really serviceable aside from dipping it in an ultrasonic cleaner (not that I have one). Should I worry about shooting lead subs through it and just stick with plated/jacketed rounds? Or is it no big deal?

My can is not serviceable, I shoot coated bullets mostly and don't see any issues. Plain lead will most def make your can gain a few ounces over time. I no longer go there. Subs can be dirty even with plated/jacketed so I recommend a serviceable style to folks. Not that big of a deal with supers only in a barrel.

You will definitively get lead & lube in your can with cast.
Much less with coated, but the coating on the boolits goes through hell while being fired.

My suppressors are all sealed and I do not clean them.
What I do is inspect them and fire a string of full power loads to blow all the crap out.

I'm thinking of grabbing some 220 coated from steel valley. Thanks for the advice.

I've done as Dr. Phil has in my .30 can, blast some hotter loads to clean it out a bit. Weigh before and after on the postal scale...no joy. I may have fired a few too many subs or not enough full power stuff. It seems to be a candidate for a sonic bath. The manufacturer will do it for me, it's on the to do list. Meanwhile my bride and I are repainting our duplex and other assorted to do's.
