Might make a good deer bullet. The 150 Gold Dot seems to be hard to find.
Re: Sierra 30 cal 150 gr Varminter Bullet
The velocity that it needs to expand might be a little high for the 300BO. The Sierra 125gr prohunter won't expand at 300BO velocities....at least not in my crude experiments. Hopefully, the Gold Dot will be on the shelves in time for hunting season for you. I have a decent supply and after the accuracy they displayed out of my 16" AR, they are definitely moving up on my list of projectiles!! Just to explain a little, I have loaded them for a couple of years with WW296/H110 and was not happy with the velocity although they did take a deer for me. Using some Shooter's World powder has increased the velocity and the accuracy was even better!ironhead7544 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 1:53 am Might make a good deer bullet. If they don't make it to the shelves in time, the Speer 125gr TnT has received rave reviews by its performance on deer out of the 300BO.
Good Luck!

Re: Sierra 30 cal 150 gr Varminter Bullet
Thanks for the info.
The reason I am looking at this bullet is that it is available. I have three 300 Blackouts that I load for and want to have 150 gr loads that work in all three. I use the cheaper bullets for practice. Want to standardize so I dont have to rezero, if possible.
Havent been able to find much info on this bullet, so I guess it must be new. I will be calling Sierra about it.

Called Sierra. They said the bullet is new and they have not had time to load the 300 Blackout yet. They suggested 2.10 for COL, to try. Also, to use their 300 Blackout loading data for 150 gr bullets.
