Acme 155 Gr RNFP coated bullets

Post by s10nova »

I ordered these thinking I'd seen Someone post they used them on an AR forum..
I was wrong ...it was a different bullet ...
Guess I'll give them a whirl anyhow.
Loaded 5, A1680, 2.00 OAL, CCI small rifle primers and
5, A1680, 2.06OAL, CCI small rifle primers.
I'm concerned with the lube grooves and where the rim of the neck contacts in relation to OAL..
These are for an 8" AR pistol.
Thoughts? Recommendations?
Thanks

Your first concern at that OAL and flat point is will they feed. I always seat a bullet in a empty test case and run from the magazine. Some work and if not a single shot guy could certainly use them. If you've checked all that then carry on 8) It took some fiddling to get a flat point 160 gr cast/coated to even feed in My RARR.

Doohh! My mistake as they aren't 135 Gr..they are 155..edited title.
They are loaded for 155 Gr.
Western powders shows a Sierra HPBT at 155 being 18.6-20.7 Gr at 2.190 OAL.
Western shows a Sierra 110 FMJ PH at 1.85 OAL.
Will I be safe experimenting with OAL testing between say that 1.85 and 2.15?

My other aggravation is these bullets when seating with the Lee die..they'll go in crooked etc..
I guess I should've payed more attention to the lube grooves and length of the bullet before ordering.
Trying to save some $$ buy I definitely don't wanna kaboom.
