I'm working through understanding the nuances of loading 300blk, supers, subs, etc.

I get that a plated heavy bullet is fine as they are used for subs, but what is the niche for a 150 gr plated (not jacketed...plated) bullet for 300 BLK? Is there a proper load that shoots this subsonic or <1650 fps supersonic? I struggled to find load data for velocities <1650 fps (as they suggest).

I do not use the same bullet.
I use the Berry's 30/30 bullet, it is cheaper and is good to 2000 FPS.
Feeds fine in AR's, levers and bolt guns and is fine for sub or super.
All plated bullets are crimp sensitive, Berry's has a video about crimping on their website.
I use the Lee Factory (taper) Crimp Die which works very well with plated bullets.
The powders I use for this bullet in the 300BLK AR, CFEBLK, H110, Lil Gun, IMR 4198, IMR 3031,
IMR 4227 and Unique.
Berry's says you can use any load data for cast or jacketed bullets of the same weight.
I shoot more supers then subs, subs are not very useful unless you have a can.

I have loaded and shot 110gr fmj's from other manufacture's because it was all I could get at the time.

Never loaded the Berry 110gr and the first question I would ask you is, Why?

They are suggested for not over 2000fps, which combined with the the light weight of the projectile to
be of limited use....maybe plinking. You can push Barnes 110 up to 23-2400fps. (depending on barrel and action).

They are very short which causes a lot of loaders problems until they find the OAL that works in their firearm (speaking AR's here).
There is a learning curve to getting those short round nose to feed in a AR.

They are plated, not jacketed. That means compared to fmj they are soft, so careful on crimps and loading as to not force them out of shape.
Wonder what the M4 feed ramps do to the nose?

Anyway, just my observations and I am sure others have some different ones. For sure, not meant to be discouraging.......shoot safely, have fun!

Sig220 That is exactly what I was looking for. I have been reloading for some years, but just started in 223 and 300 so I am not familiar with with what is available and what will work. So thanks for the info.

For accurate cheaper projectiles that even perform well on deer in 300 BO, look at the Speer 125gr Tnt. Usually priced the best when you buy the 500 packs...although you may have to search for them. They are worth it, imho.
