This thread seems to have drifted, but I'll add that I use CCI 400s for moderate loads and RP 7-1/2s for full throttle.

As for IMR 4227, I've used it since 1977 and still think it one of the more flexible powders. In this particular cartridge it might not yield the absolute highest velocities, but can work well from just cycling to full throttle.

13gr IMR 4227 under the RCBS 7.62-130-SPL (140gr w/GC) gives full function in 16" with carbine gas. Its a very soft shooting, accurate load. 15gr under the Lee C312-155 (160gr w/GC) crimped in the crimp groove is a moderate plinker load that works well to at least 300 yards. This latter load was just thrown together for my tight throated pistol gas upper, but surprised me when it seemed to shoot as well as my go to H110 load worked up in the carbine gas upper.

Just for S&G I loaded some 206gr over 9-10gr and shot them (today)through my 16" pistol gas upper and was surprised with full function using the heavy BCG, and H2 buffer.

If I had to make a choice between 296/H110, MP300, or IMR 4227, I would just buy a jug of IMR 4227.

I use CCI magnums only. I had to switch once with a long chambered bolt gun. Went with WRP because they were soft, worked every time. Sent that rifle down the road. My CZ hits CCI magnums just fine. BTW I try to keep bolt action/single shot brass separated from AR brass.

IMR4227 was designed for pistol sized rifle cartridges. It is flash suppressed. I have used it for many years and in a number of different cartridges. I would expect it to be fine for the 300 Blackout.

I had a small quantity of IMR4227 so tried it with the Hornady 150 gr FMJBT. It worked fine in the 16" carbine barrel. I was unable to find my notes on this load. Havent been able to get any of this powder for a while due to the present conditions. Going to try it again when it becomes available.
