300 Caliber 110gr E-Tip® Lead Free™ Bullet

Post by Blowout »

Anyone try these yet? I just ordered some to try out when the the ranges open up again.

Interested in comparing these to the Barnes Tac-TX.

The Nosler indicates 1800fps minimum velocity for expansion. I can't recall what the Tac-TX minimum expansion velocity is, but thought it was a lot less than 1800fps.

I haven't shot that bullet but I believe the Blacktip Tac-TX expands down to 1650FPS or so, but double check me :)

I’m remembering the 300blk specific bullet expanding down to 1300 or 1350.

Our neighbor just brought over my box. UPS dropped them at the wrong door on Tuesday and I was just writing up a lost order ticket when the door bell rang.

Maybe the same bearing surface on this bullet compared to the Barnes because of the boat tail, but I'd have to get the calipers out to make sure.

Another thread I found indicates 1300fps is the minimum expansion velocity for the Tac-TX.

I picked up some 7.62x39 123gr E-tips recently on sale and they look identical. Haven't had a chance to load any of those yet, but imagine they will be fairly close in velocity to the 300blk with the 13gr weight differential offsetting the 2 grs increase in charge. Not really sure though.

Typically the cannalure is where the case should seat, but I wasn't planning on it with this bullet. With 20gr of H110/W296, there's not enough space left in the case to seat that deep either.

As a general rule, I ignore the cannelure. Just seat to the proper depth.
