Sizing problems 300BLK

Post by treadwm »

Has anyone else experienced a problem with the case rims tearing off during resizing? The brass has been cleaned, lubed with Hornady OneShot and I'm working at a steady pace. They go in easy enough but tear like butter when I try to extract them.
This brass has been shot mb twice. In the last batch of 30, I prob had to stop and remove 5 of them.

I switch to Heat ISO fuel additive and Lanolin. Much cheaper and easier to use.

It really works very well.

Changing sizing lube is worth a shot. I've have really good luck w/ the OneShot up till now. But the bulk of my reloading is pistol calibers too.

Is this a new die? Check the vent hole for debris. Take it apart and clean it. I would also try a different lube if it all looks good. You should not be having this issue if the die is good and lubed correctly.

Hornady One Shot is a great pistol brass lube. It sucks for anything else.

I use a mix of ISO HEET and lanolin.

I use 9 parts 95% alcohol and 1 part liquid lanolin. Good luck finding alcohol now though. I believe isoheat is +90% alcohol and can be used in place of the alcohol. Throw cases in a ziplock bag and use a good sprayer, let them sit a little bit to let the alcohol flash off. I tumble them in Walnut to clean the lube off after sizing. I size/trim in a separate operation on a Dillon 550. I haven't had a stuck case since starting this and they glide into the sizing die.

Some lubes may be better than others, but about any f them, properly used, should work. I've used Dillon lube for everything up to .308.

That pic looks funny to me. Are you sure you're using the correct shellholder?
