Reloading bench chair

Post by Roachclass »

What do you guys use for your reloading bench chair? My old one is done and I need to get something soon, this old one is killing my back since the support broke. Just thought I might get some good suggestions. My bench top sits a little over 34" from the floor.

Instead of a chair, get an ultramount and stand.

I stand too. But do have two cheap “bar stools” that are more catch all’s than seats.

I build my loading benches tall (and narrow) the tops are just under my elbows standing in front of them.

I’m building a row of countertop along two walls in my new shop as we speak, and mine will be sized tall enough to simply stand up like the others have suggested.

My current set up is finished around 42 inches tall and this one will be about an inch taller when I’m done.

I currently have my balance beam scale on a shelf that sits just below my eye level so I can easily bend over and prop against the bench top to read it straight on, but not so high that I have a tough time dispensing powder.

my bench is at 38" and i have my progressive mounted to a 9" ultra mount along with an ergo roller handle. full up with the handle is just below shoulder height, full down is about my belly button. its a nice comfortable mounting height/location/configuration for standing usage. I'm 5'10.

i also have foam floor mats down, over carpet - the interlocking foam ones for like kids play areas. that little bit of extra cusion was a real game changer for longer sessions standing there working

this is the type of mat i'm talking about. 6 peices (24" x 24" x 1/2") can be had for under $20 just about anywhere that sells them (walmart, amazon, etc etc etc) you can get them up to 1" thick if you want lots of padding, but those are gonna be about double the cost.

Get a gaming chair. If my reloading desk was as low as yours, I would have one. Been considering cutting down the legs to use a gaming chair. The stool I use is killing my back.

Thats along the lines I was thinking, just seeing if there was any good ideas other than the old desk chair I was using. I understand some people stand but I'm not going to rebuild my whole setup just to stand up for no reason. Yes it's cluttered up right now, but it's home.

Check craigslist for your area. Might get lucky.
