Have you tried it with 150's in the BLK? That's mainly where my interest lies. And also in my American 30, 125's and 150's.plant.one wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 10:39 am yup, thats the stuff i have do-63.1. i've got... 5 or 6 lbs left at this point but my local source had gone away so i was gonna have to switch to the .2 "blackout" when that ran out.
load it with 1680 data, its just a touch faster/denser, and way freaking cleaner. roughly speaking i'm down a couple tenths of a grain for 208gr subs to match 1680 velocity in the blackout.
nice to know i can keep on keepin on by ordering it this way.
i wanna try it one of these days in my 450 bushmaster under 300gr bullets... i bet it'd shine in there with those heavies.

Re: Shooters World Socom?
actually no, i have yet to tinker with it for supers in the blackout.
from what i recall, when we all first stumbled upon this stuff.... Lovex used to make 1680 for alliant, and at some point lost the contract. so this stuff is their version of 1680, probably modified just enough to satisfy their legal department. my expectation is that its performance as a super powder should be quite similar.
i wanna play with it under the 150 GD, but my trigger time on the weekends this summer has been almost nil - helping my cousin try to get a house put up on their property has taken all the nice weather weekends. ive hardly even made any trips up to the family farm.

Re: Shooters World Socom?
I was first turned onto this with the Gold Dot 150 thread:
viewtopic.php?f=128&t=101961
I havent gotten much time to develop loads so far with this, but my most recent was
18-20gn loads, 0.5gn increment
Best Load:
150gn Speer Gold Dot (308150BLKGDB)
20.0gn SW Blackout (Not compressed, charge dropped)
1.355-1.360 trim
2.200 OAL
CCI #41
Light crimp
5 shot avg 2024.6fps with SD 2.88
14.5" AR15, pinned break, suppressed
No pressure signes yet (as expected)
So far im pretty impressed by this powder. Havent had a chance to try SOCOM yet, but plan on it in the near future (looking at you black friday deals)

What kind of accuracy did you get with that load?Isopher wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 3:08 pm I was first turned onto this with the Gold Dot 150 thread:

Re: Shooters World Socom?
I got to test the SW Socom powder vs 300-MP this past weekend with the Speer 150 gr Gold Dot. I have to say the Socom powder outperformed the 300-MP'
50-yard range, 5 shot strings
Chrono was the LabRadar
16" Daniel Defense barrel 1:8 twist
Here are the best results (most accurate for me) for each;
All loads were once fired LC converted brass, Rem 7 1/2 primers, trim length 1.358, OAL 2.18, light Lee FC.
300-MP
18.7gr High = 2113.36 Low = 2084.44 Avg = 2095.09 ES = 28.92 SD = 11.39 Group = .75 inch - No pressure signs
SW Socom
20.1gr High = 2171.44 Low = 2091.94 Avg = 2146.90 ES = 79.5 0 SD = 32.44 Group = .5 inch(1 ragged hole) - No pressure signs
NOTE: the next step up the ladder for each load (+.3gr) started to show pressure signs, so work your own ladders up accordingly.

Re: Shooters World Socom?
Interesting, thanks. I got my order in and loaded up some to test, but came down with ebola or maybe the bubonic plague so it'll be a week or so.20X11 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2019 10:42 pm I got to test the SW Socom powder vs 300-MP this past weekend with the Speer 150 gr Gold Dot. Get well BANGBANG
Re: Shooters World Socom?
I don’t know how many thousands of rounds of 150 grain and heavier supers that I’ve sent down range. While I have always had higher velocity with powders like 296/H110, I have had better accuracy with powders closer to 1680 & 5744. The Shooters World powders seem to split the difference. Providing about 50-75 fps more velocity than 1680, and at as good if not better accuracy. The only other powder I have found impressive with heavy supers is 11FS.
A 175 Gold Dot would be very interesting with a MV of 2100.
It’s enjoyable to see others working with the heavy supers, I think it’s a long over looked potential in the cartridge.

300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.
