One on right is once fired resized factory 300 blackout brass.

as i understad it... you're supposed to cut the brass first at the shoulder, then put into the die to form...

I tried that but it did the same thing and led me to doing it this way as i saw on youtube. Im so confused

That's hard to say from looking at the pic. What are you using for lube?

To me even the one sized after firing even looks like crap. Can you measure the neck diameter?

For reference top was sized in a Redding, Norma factory, Forster on bottom.

It may be the photo, but even your reformed factory does not seem to have that well defined shoulder. I question the die.

Hornady case lube and the factory cases havent given me problems shooting. They just have a sharper edge from forming to my chamber i think

Possibly lube or oil built up in the die..

I realize that we can sometimes have different methods and opinions.

It is hard for me to see the point in resizing brass that I will cut off.

I cut off all my brass first and then resize them. The length of the cut can be important, as with practice you will
find the length of the cut off brass that after resizing will result in the middle of the suggested 300BO length.

I sometimes resize first with a set of SB 223 dies as that is one less thing my 300BO dies have to accomplish in addition to
sizing and forming the shoulder.....so I guess in a sense, I sometimes do it both ways

Anyway, my preference are RCBS dies and I don't have brass problems.....as long as I stay away from brass on naughty list (too thick).

In my complete confession, I do use one of those old Harbor Freight mini cut off saws as well....
