Hi everyone - I'm new to reloading and brand new to this forum.
The last couple months or so I've been experimenting with different types of sub loads with different powders.
Recently, I picked up some Sierra 220gr RN bullets. In reviewing the Sierra load data and recommended OAL using these bullets, It recommends an OAL of 2.10". This is fine but when adhering to this recommendation, it leaves the cannelure completely exposed. I've found that OAL of 2.07 will leave half of the cannelure exposed which I've usually understood to be standard procedure.
Any experience or advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Sierra 220gr RN Question with cannelure
Unless a bullet is made specifically for the 300 BLK the cannelure likely will not match up with the case mouth. Doesn't hurt a thing. Go with the recommended OAL.

Thank you for the advice - That's what I will try out.

Re: Sierra 220gr RN Question with cannelure
A few years ago i was given 200 of these bullets by a friend that sold his 30-30. I loaded em
For my 300blk and used the recommended OAL.
The cannelure was fully outside the case....normal for this bullet in this caliber.
