Where can I find the min/max headspace dimensions for rifle cartridges?
Te loading manuals show the overall case dimensions, but nothing on headspace.

The thickness of one to two pieces of making tape. You got a new set of calipers?
You can't beat the mountain, pilgrim. Mountains got its own way.
Re: Headspace Dimensions
Most gunsmiths make quick go / no go gauges by shooting a case, putting one or two pieces of tape on the back of the shell to check headspace.
edit - I shouldn't say "most", how about a lot of gunsmiths.......

Re: Headspace Dimensions
I don't want a go/no go. I want to establish what the headspace is on specific rifles so I know how much to bump the shoulders. The purpose is to reduce the amount of FL sizing I have to do and thus maybe extend the number of loadings I can get out of a case. I can actually do that with the RCBS Precision Mic and not really need to know actual dimensions. It would be nice to know what the min/max is, just for my own information. I have no intention of trying to do a rocket science measurement project.

300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.

Just curious.. Is there a point below min SAAMI headspace spec that you deem a case unsafe to shoot or do you just go ahead and shoot them and let 'em grow?

Ask around and you'll get answers from "don't worry about it" to "you're gonna die". Personally, I won't shoot anything more than 1/4" below spec.rlandry6 wrote:Just curious.. In a BLK bolt action, you'll likely get misfires with short shoulders. If this happens, or if you're just concerned about some brass that's short, back off your charge a bit and load with the bullet into the lands. That ensures the case head is against the bolt face and prevents the possibility of case head separation.
