All I use calipers for is reloading and an occasional part measurement, I have a Starrett and a Mitutoyo micrometer, but my calipers are cheaper, I have a hornady dial, and two $10 digital calipers from harbor freight. One is on my hornady headspace gauge and the other with the comparator because that's what I measure the most. So far I haven't felt the need, but if I need to I can use the micrometers to spot check the cheapos.
