Getting accurate powder throws with basic tools

Post by Freedom1973 »

I saw this in one of my feeds and thought it would be useful to share for those starting out in hand loading. Please feel free to expand and add.

I have the pistol size and the 90 culver. Both are very consistent. The pistol size is great for subsonic loads.
Malinois, it's French for "Don't get one"

The best thing to do is to add a baffle to the powder hopper. Before I did that I would have consistency problems. After my RCBS powder measure is always .1 grain or better.

I need to do so to mine as I am becoming more proficient at handloading. BTW the DS Specials are preforming very well and I am dialing them in on my AR and Bolt gun.

Awesome, glad to hear it.

They are quieter and hit harder than pretty much anything on the market. And they are pretty forgiving when working up an accurate load.

What kind of accuracy are you seeing with them?

The 265gr with a minor load adjustment out of my AR.

This was the second set with reduced load of N120. Still playing with the 245gr to get them where I need them. I will also be working on the quiet loads this weekend.

Yes,
This is 50 yards. I have not achieved ultimate dellet reloading status yet.
Maybe one day.
It is nice to have goals.

Still pretty solid shooting, I couldn’t do any better.

This bullet was designed for the 300 Blackout. The bullet is optimized to use most powders used in the 300 Blackout. I made sure this bullet has the best case fill possible. Proper case fill is so important to consistency and it is consistency helps a gun be accurate.

When I started shooting cast bullets I was tickled to get 2” at 25 yards. I still can’t get much better so groups like that always impresses me.
