I have a 9 inch barreled SBR (pistol gas system, adj gas block, standard buffer and bcg) and plan on developing a supersonic load for the 125 grain SMK. Sierra has both the Ramshot Enforcer and Winchester WIN 296 listed as their fastest powders for the 125 SMK. I am trying to get 2125 fps reliably out of my 9 inch barrel and was wondering if you guys would recommend one powder over the other (or even a different powder).
Thanks,

....unfortunately, the only real way to determine if you can reach your stated goal of "2125 FPS" with ANY component combination is to go thru the load development, safely, in your particular platform. Look over the "Pet Loads" section and I'm sure you will find info that could give you some insight on not only these two powders, as wel las others used in platforms with same or similar length barrels as yours.EnderZen wrote:I have a 9 inch barreled SBR (pistol gas system, adj gas block, standard buffer and bcg) and plan on developing a supersonic load for the 125 grain SMK. Of the two I prefer 296. I have had better accuracy, seems more predictable on the high end. But I also have more experience with that powder
To get a 125 to that speed in a 9" barrel, you need to work it a bit. You will probably be in the 21+ grain range. Hot, but manageable.

300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.

Thanks dellet. Just looking for a direction since I have not used either one before. I will get working on the 296 and see how it goes.

If you haven’t worked with either, just work up slow. A half grain at the right time can make or break your day. .2 grains is what I use until I get a feel for how the bullet/powder combo will work together.
This was a pretty good example of how I work up loads with 296.

Ramshot Enforcer and Accurate 4100 are the virtually the exact same powder. Take a look at this ...
Ramshot Enforcer - Accurate 4010 both show this recipe:
125 NOSLER B-TIP 16.5 gr. @ 2,048 fps - 18.4 gr. @ 2,224 FPS 54,680 pressure 2.165 O.A.L.
I personally tested the Nossler 125 gr B-Tip up to 18.8 gr. where it started flattening primers in my 12" Barrel 1:8 twist PWS 300 Blk rifle. for me the OCW - Optimal Charge Weight was 18.6 gr. of Accurate 4100 @ 2366 fps.
I have a picture of the target I shot at 100 yds showing less than MOA but can't figure out how to post a picture on this site.
