Need help with quietest subsonic load for my ar-15

Post by rem_pss308 »

Alright guys,
Ive been looking thru all this load data.

Ive seen where some say that 1680 with 220 gr. is loud.

Im looking for the quietest load sub sonic that will cycle my AR. it is a 9 inch barrel with adjustable gas block.

I have loaded both 220 and 208 with 1680 powder. they sound the same.

give me some answers please.

thanks

Faster burning powders in general will provide quieter shooting subs. I prefer either w296 or n110 for clean, quiet, functional subs for my 9” sbr

I really liked IMR 4227 for my 10.5” AR. I was using it with the 208 ELD (and AMAX) and a CCI SRM primer.

What grain bullet with the H110 and 296 ?

The quietest ive heard is with my single shot using TNT 125 Speer and trailboss but they wont cycle the AR

I like enforcer and #9 depending on what I'm doing with it.

Haven't tried it yet myself bc i cant get vithavouri powders without driving 8 hrs, but i remember N120 was very well talked of on a couple threads for being Reliable, Clean, and Quiet. Its on my to get list next time i see it.

I use 10.8 to 11 gr Reloder 7 with 220 Leatherbeads or if in a picky mood 220 gr Sierra. A lot of the noise is from bolt carrier an spring. You need to check that. I tend to shoot alot and don't strive for best quiet, just quiet enough. I let my can do the work.

Something else, noise can change in the transonic range. Slow the bullet down a bit might help

Blue Dot will work in short barrels. Start with 7.5 grains then go down from there.
