Adding micrometer seating stem to RCBS Seating Die

Post by dbltaps »

Good morning! Do any of you know if it's possible to add a micrometer seating stem to an RCBS 300BLK seating die? I have the RCBS 300BLK SB FL die set, & am looking for a more precise way to seat bullets.

I looked at doing this also but I couldn't find a separate micrometer seater for their dies. I ended up getting a Hornady micrometer seating die and just left my RCBS seating die set up for the 220 gr, Berry's bullets I reload.

Roverhound I have come to the same conclusion. Too bad RCBS doesn't make an add-on micrometer seating stem for their dies.

Thank you for your reply!

Is either the Redding or the hornaday mic seating stem not the same threads that are on your rcbs die?

On midway both the redding and hornady say they wont work with other dies, but i have the redding and i installed it on a dillon 308 seater die and it has worked flawless. I love mine. It certainly was worth every dime considering how much i change and test different loads. I believe i researched it through google and someone had used the same setup so i took a chance figuring i could return it. Like guest 762 said, I would just check and see if its the same thread pitch as your die before you decide.

Unfortunately no.
You can find the Hornady for good prices on ebay or just by searching.

Your post intrigued me. Went down the rabbit hole on it lastnight. And through several random forum posts. No, different treads all around for each makers dies.

pd_3307,

Could you provide some details on your setup... Redding PN, Dillon PN.

Redding micrometer is compatible with Dillon Rifle Dies.

Midway USA and other retailers sell the Redding part.

Dillon makes carbide only dies for 300 Blackout

The Forster competition die is a really good choice. It makes very concentric ammunition.
