MBC 215gr OEM coated cast bullets
Anyone have experience with these bullets in an ar? Having loading problems and wondering if a short coal (2.00 or less) is okay for subs with 1680.
Re: MBC 215gr OEM coated cast bullets
I have been trying to get that bullet to work in either of my 300blk out uppers. So far have tried different OAL down to 2.12 with zero success.
Will go shoot this afternoon with a OAL of 2.088 and see if that might feed. If it doesn't I will give up on this bullet.
some magazines don't work at all. Magpul, Lancer, etc the only mags I have that kinda feed ok are AR stoner Stainless Steel.

I haven't shot that bullet, but I've run the NOE 311-230 down to 2.010" with A1680 and my 12ga patterned better. Running gas checks kept the group on the paper... if I was close enough.
Ultimately I moved the OAL out to 2.110". Then adding a gas check made it shoot even better. With IMR4227 this is my bread & butter load now. Shoots great and cheaper than 22LR if I find the lead for free.
With the few bullets I could recover from the shorties, you could see the powder coat melted off and what looked like flame cutting. My flash hider would shine with lead when I cleaned it up. So I came to the profound conclusion that jamming the base of these long cast bullets deep into the powder was bad for accuracy.

MBC 215 coated. I've shot many, to wit;
16" AR
2.080 OAL, 10.5g 1680, avg 997fps
2.080 OAL, 9.3g 4227 can't find velocity, but it's subsonic. Barely enough gas to cycle
10" Encore
2.080 OAL, 6g Unique, avg 1028fps.

Feeding problems is what I have, that big flat tip jams into the locking lugs. The OAL of 2.088 jamed 4 times in 20 rounds.
Maybe I should load up a couple more at 2.075 and see if it helps.

Re: MBC 215gr OEM coated cast bullets
Found out this morning on Midways web site there are at least two manufacturers of magazine that address the feeding issue I am having using MBC 215gr bullets
Quote from web site;
The Lancer Systems L5 AWM Advanced Warfighter 300BLK magazine has been specifically engineered for use with heavy subsonic 300 Blackout ammunition, particularly with 200+ grain projectiles. The updated internal magazine geometry allows these longer heavier bullets to stack properly, which increases feeding reliability when compared to a traditional .223/5.56 magazine. The outside of the mag body is molded with distinctive 300 Blackout markings and the magazine ships with a contrasting flat dark earth floor plate for easy visual identification.
