Freedom Munitions 150gr FMJ Reman Question

Post by coltc »

New to the 300blk cartridge.

I have purchased some Remington and Gemtech subsonic ammo but was looking for some cheap plinking stuff as well. I picked up 500 of the Freedom Munitions 150gr FMJ Remans. OAL on this stuff seems to be all over the place. Maybe this is not much of an issue with 300blk? Just opened a box and found one that measured 2.138 and another at 2.03. This was measured with cheap calipers but you can see the size differences easily.

Is this good enough for cheap plinking ammo?

Here's some pics.

That wouldn't be acceptable to me, even for plinking rounds. I'd contact the manufacturer.

A couple of thousandths variation would be normal but those are excessive. Contact the manufacturer with photos.

I sent the pics to them. I'll see what they say. The size difference is very evident even before removing the rounds from the plastic holder. They are not level in the holder at all. When I removed a few I could clearly see they were all sorts of sizes. These were just the cheap bulk remans. They were $277.41 shipped for 500rds. Didn't know if this was normal for cheap ammo but it seemed excessive.

I have never received ammo from them with that much variation.
I ordered a lot of 300blk from them along with 308 and 556. I've had variation yes, but not visible like that.

I shoot a ton of their .223, but never anything CLOSE to those variations. Did you buy direct from Freedom Munitions, or a reseller? Did it come in their black boxes? Maybe it's cheap knock-off or an otherwise good product?

Guns are tools designed for dirty work both competitive and defensive. If I meet someone with a well worn gun, I hope their barrel is pointed the same direction as mine if the lead starts flying...

They replied to my email and want the ammo back. They sent a label to return it.
