The barrel is a 1:8 lothar walther, 23mm in dia. For about 4", then 20mm out towards the muzzle.
This project seems to have a great accuracy potensial, but, it will not cycle yet, not with the vit. N110 loads.

Considering larger gasport or vit.120 powder.

A update.

Loading is bit of a chore, there is absolutly no factory ammunition available in my part of Europe, that means that developing near max loads is a bit of guesswork. I have tried N-110, this gives me good velocity, but not enough gas to cycle the rifle, i am now on to N-120. This cycles the rifle with supersonic loads and a silencer.

My next trials will be with near max loads with N-130.

The scope mount rail, no, its not glued on, some fancy milling and two M5 screws.

The same load.

I guess i am on to something.

Yes. It works, with both supersonic from 110 to 175, and with subs and supressor from 200.
The trick for the supersonic was Norma 200.
i will get back when i have sorted the data.

Hi Egon, did you try once with 11grs. 5744 and 220grs.SMK? I think that should cycle your Mini-14 reliably.

Best regards from Switzerland

Did you have to open up the gas port substantially to get subs to cycle?

Hello, Egon. Do you have any updates?

Anyone else taken on the challenge?

A Mini-14 in 300 Blk would be the ultimate 'piston' system without having to convert an AR, and the Mini-14 is strong and basic and reliable. Think Garand with a detachable magazine, and in a 'mini' version.

I would like one of these someday...
