Hans Solo Blackout?

Post by HotGuns »

Heres a bolt action, 300 Blackout that I made from spare parts laying around. It has a 6" 1/7barrel that I cut and threaded for a suppressor.
I used the barrel nut off of Midwest Industries forearm because a regular barrel nut looked weird. If you want to unscrew the barrel and stick it in a small case or backpack or something, you can do that.

We shot it and it shoots great.I stuck the EOtech on it just to zero it out and see what it was capable of. So far its only been shot at 25 yards, I'd like to see what it'll do at a 100. That EOTech is a bit big, I'll probably mount something else on it.

First shots were with some 200-grain bullets. Due to the fact that there is no action noise, this thing is stupid quiet.

So far, so good.

I am working with the original maker of the Solo 300. I made his first barrel for him. He never expected it to take off like it has so he is getting set up to produce them commercially.

He is going to be selling them in 300 Blackout with a 6" barrel. He also plans to do them in 5.56 as well as 458 SOCOM.

I'm considering building an upper like this that I can swap between SBR and pistol lowers. Are there any concerns about hot gasses escaping into the (right-handed) shooter's face if the bolt should shomehow unlock while firing? I like the idea of being able to charge with the left hand, but wondering about pros and cons of left-handed charging versus right-handed charging, especially as they relate to safety.

i'll admit i'm working on a rig akin to rolling blackouts' build. started amassing parts before he announced the commercial option. but it'll be fun to do. kind of at a stoppage for a bit due to TDY this month, but i'll be back on it when i get home.

just gotta figure out how to drill the carrier, that thing's harder than hard.
