I think it is a great idea, but I went with a cva scout pistol as a sub sonic 300blkout round has its limitations. I still want a bolt gun in .300blkout and a short barrel one only makes sense. Post some pictures when you get it complete!

Assuming you know and trust someone to do the job correctly, I can't think of any good reason not to go with #1. Can't see any downsides to a known good barrel and lower cost. Sounds like a great project.

OP I did just that with mine. Overall barrel is 12.5" without suppressor five mounted. Form 1 did all the work myself. Shoots 1 ragged hole at 100yds on a nice day. Folds away nicely into a small Larue soft case as well when it's not in its storage case. I may be biased but I say DO IT!!!

This was a .223rem Tikka T3 and rebarreled with a 12" 1:7 ultra match barrel. I only shoot targets and steel at distance when testing new batchs of reloaded ammo. Mostly hunt with subs and shoots sub MOA with all loads.

Best stag so far with Lehigh 194gr ME

SBR at its best, head shot in the ear at 251m with 208gr A-Max
