Hey, that's a beautiful gun. I have a couple of questions if you have a ruler handy. Could you tell me how long the barrel would be if a guy chopped it off right at the end of the stock? I would really like a SBR Ranch Rifle with a barrel length to match my AR and I was wondering where that length would put me.

Thanks, and have fun with it!

How freely do the mags detach? Between friends and family, we have the following rifles and mag detachment on all of them is difficult: FN SPR, Mossy MVP, Savage 11 (a new one with the new bad mag that is likely the same as an Axis mag), and Savage Axis. The best is the MVP because at least putting the mag in is easy. For some reason factory DBM has to suck.

But Ruger usually gets mags right, so I have faith.

I examined a Ruger American Predator in .223 recently at a LGS. The magazine slid in and out like it was greased. It is amazing how small the magazine feels in your hand.

cwlongshot - Congratulations on being the first non-gunwriter to get your hands on one! I am prowling the Internet looking for one for myself.

Mags feel cheap. Load OK. Kinda are squeeze in that the rounds snap in and slide back. They drop right out and pop right in it!

The shop had ONE COME IN! Actually NO ONE KNEW IT AS THERE! (Accept the guy who logged and put it out!) five different sales guys where all over it as I did papers!! LOL

Measurement not exact but 10 1/4" is close. ;)

Bolt is smoothe, mags drop free. Might be a go. Or I might get a long action caliber.

Nice looking rifle. How does the barrel weight compare to a standard Remington varmint contour? What scope and rings do you have on it?
