Here are some pictures of my recent 300 Blackout build using a Savage Striker. It is a pistol based on a Savage short action that was built for a few years. They are actually really hard to find and after 3 weeks of calling and emailing every person who listed one for sale in the last 18 months I found one.
It is a left hand bolt with a right hand eject. The trigger is actually pretty nice for having a linkage. Hoping to get a chance to get it zeroed and have fun with it this weekend.
The barrel started life as a 416SS Green Mountain blank with 8 twist. It was cut to 16.5" and threaded for a muzzle brake installed for now. As soon as I get my forms back from the ATF for what will be my form 1 can I will be chopping the barrel to 10"-12" and threading it. I also have a 223 barrel and looking for a 308 barrel. Swapping barrels literally takes 15 minutes.

Looks GREAT, looking forward to a range report!

Why would you need a nfa stamp to put a 12" barrel on this. If if started as a pistol it doesnt need one, and if the action is from a rifle then the oal is under 26" so youre already violating nfa.
This should be a pistol... so chop away.

Images blocked at work, but will look on my phone later. I'm sure it's a work of art.
When I go to bed a law abiding citizen and wake a felon, by the stroke of the legislative pen, tyranny has arrived.

The Form 1 I am waiting on is for a suppressor. Until then I am not gong to worry about chopping the barrel down.

Not something I'd own but it's an "A+" for for being unique. I'm sure it's fun to shoot.

Ah... somehow I missed the word "can" in the initial post.Dolomite_Supafly wrote:The Form 1 I am waiting on is for a suppressor. Until then I am not gong to worry about chopping the barrel down.
Ive always liked the striker... 300 blackout makes perfect sense with its efficency from a short barrel. Yours looks damn sharp.

I have this front sight coming for it now:
And they line up perfectly with the Williams WGRS ghost ring rears.
I have used the Tech Sights with the WGRS sights. They work great with the 45 ACP Savage bolt gun I built my wife. The Tech Sights and the NDS sights are the same height.
Here is what my wife's 45 bolt gun looks like with a similar setup.
