Have they fixed Ruger American Ranch Rifle's feeding problem???

I now hate my Ruger American Ranch Rifle in 300 Blackout. Everytime I attempt to chamber a round it doesn't feed. I have to take the magazine out, then get the round in and then put it back in.....every single time.

This is with 194gr. Lehigh Quick Expansion ammo. It had problems with 220gr. Sig and Remington ammo also.

Has Ruger fixed this problem?

Really thinking about getting rid of this rifle and getting the Ruger American Ranch Rifle in 300 BO that uses the AR15 magazine if it feeds properly.

I'd contact Ruger first and see if it can be fixed.

This discussion may provide a hint of what is happening with your rifle. The feeding problem though is baffling. It seems that the rifle is out of spec perhaps with the magazine and bolt. I have a RAR in 7.62X39mm with no issues.

My son got one for my grandchild in a different caliber and it works fine.

That said, like you I dislike unreliable weapons.

I just got mine. Yeah, the magazine is trash. But, mine feeds pretty well as long as I run the bolt forward briskly and firmly.

I’ve shot the 194 Max Expansion bullets loaded by Beck with no isues. Harvester 208 A-Max loads did well also as did Gorilla subsonic expanding loads and the 110gr blacktip.

Still, the magazine is cheap and feeding feels rough. I hope it smoothes out. Better, I hope Rger designs a quality magazine for this fun little rifle.

On a brighter note, mine has a full picatinny/weaver rail (whichever one has the wider cross slots, I can never remember) with even spacing all along its length so optic mounting options are wide open. I can use either the two ring setup or a one-piece PEPR mount.

And, so far at 50 yds, five shot groups are all touching with the Beck 194 and Harvester 208 going to same POI.

Hearing about all these issues with the RARR has kept me from buying one.

I never knew big companies like Ruger couldn’t build a basic bolt action rifle.

I own a RARR with short stock. I have three of the rotary mags for this gun. I have never had any kind of feeding problem, mag loading problem,or any other kind of problem associated with the mags.
I have shot about 6-8 different loads, from different manufacturers, using different bullets.
My buddy has two of the same guns and to my knowkkedge he has never had a problem with his guns either.
The question is . . . what is the difference that makes some of these guns good, and some bad ?? --- pruhdlr

I have three original Ruger rotary magazines, one fed from the off without issue and continues to do so. The other two wouldn’t reliably feed all rounds until I lightly dressed the forward internal section of the feed lips with a small fine file, and have since had no issues.

I surmise that the shorter OAL of some loadings of the 300BLK, coupled with the shoulder location of the cartridge compared to the 223 is the cause of the problem that has luckily gone away for me after light use of the file.

I haven't had any issues with my magazine fed RARR. The bolt was pretty tight when I first got it but it runs well now.

Had problems feeding and now the 2nd magazine broke. Ruger replied to my email and said they would send an RMA for me to mail the rifle in so I will be doing that.

Shoot, I knew I shouldn't have thrown the box away!!!

That damn rotary magazine is a POS. Had I known I would have just gotten the AR mag variant. This gun is for my son to hunt and he's learning quickly how to unjam a round shoved into the top of the barrel. Thought about trying the Lucky 13 mag from AU but it's 1/3 the price of the whole gun...and I'd have to modify it to hold less rounds for hunting anyways. Can't someone just make a WORKING magazine for this gun? Steel/polymer I don't care...just be reliable. And those little metal tabs that hold the two halves together are a complete joke.

Speaking of...does anyone know if there are any differences in the action for the AR mag RAR? As in could I just swap the factory stock for the DBM one? IF so...surely a few out there will be putting new stocks on and selling the old.

Such a POS. Strange since the 10/22 mag is bulletproof.

When I bought mine the AR mag version wasn't available or I would have bought that for sure.
