Stock Bedding & Oversize Lugs
I've been watching a lot of YT videos on custom build rifles and stock bedding. A lot of the custom builders install custom oversize recoil lugs. I'm wondering, if the bedding job is done correctly and the existing lug is secure in the bedding, what is the advantage of the oversize lug? Surface contact is surface contact. What am I missing?

Re: Stock Bedding & Oversize Lugs
Usually the aftermarket ones are precision ground to ensure it is perpendicular with the bore, and parallel front/ back. The factory ones are stamped and not parallel/square, so doesn't bed in perfect. I doubt adding tickness adds anything other than a warm fuzzy feeling. The rifle touches your shoulder and will give out far sooner than than piece of metal.

If bedded properly, oversize lugs have no advantage unless your building a very large magnum.
