I Love this gun more and more as the years with it pass...

Yesterday I shot my early Ruger American 300 BO at 50, 100 and 200 yards. Shooting six different loads. (Just for fun & final site ck for the season ahead.)

50 Yards is just silly, single hole with nearly all but the subs. Shooting at 100, things are looking more like most rifles shoot at 50. My loads where my original hunting load, max load of 296 and a 125 SST/NBT. Second load is another one I have hunted with last two years, A1680 and a 135G Sierra HP. The third load is a Sierra bullet the 125 MATCH built for the lil 300 on top of H110 and it shoots very well in my guns. (Best group yesterday too) I shot up a sub load I made for my brother that he did not like. Its a Ranier Wedge 180HP and A1680, 9.5g IIRC... He wanted quite loads for his new "quite device". I shot these just to shoot them up, but was pleased to see that they shot better then most sub loads for me. about a 2-2.25" square group. The last two are two loads I have been working up using the Speer 150GD. First is VV N110 starting at 15.5 up just past 17.5g. The second is 300MP starting at 18.5 topping out at 20.5g. YES, I KNOW some of these are past max loads. This bullet is seated as long as possible in my magazines. Heavy rains all weekend meant no chrony numbers that I really wanted on the 150's just to see where I was...

Anyhow, ALL of them shot exceptionally!!

These are 100 yard targets. I didn't get back out to 200 cause the rain got bad and it was real muddy.

YES,
With no changes at to scope all, all (BUT SUB) sited center of dot @ 100 yrds Leupold 2x7x32 VXII

Subs dropped 5"+ and I held centerline on target.

Nice set of targets, it really can be a very accurate shooting cartridge. If you throw out the N110 group that was high, lay the other 4 groups over each other, it would still be a pretty impressive 12 shot group, maybe even MOA.

Heck, the 15 shot group wouldn't have been much more

The gold dot continues to impress. Good shooting CW.

Agree. Somebody knows how to work up a load as well as shoot.

CW, I don't remember seeing any hunting pics with the Sierra 135. Did you ever poke a deer with one?

Yes my father shot a small buck last season. Uneventful really. Was his first with this rifle. He has it again now its light and short just like him.   . At nearly 80 he needed a smaller rifle. He only walks a fifty to a hundred yards on flat ground and sits.

Awesome that he still gets out.

I considered that bullet because it's so easy to shoot well. Put it aside after it exploded in gel tests.

Yes CW,
Very nice. There are a lot of guys on here that have done great things (accuracy wise) with the round. I happen to be one that just ran one of my 125SST loads thru my RARR (youth model) that I tested through my AR and called it good. I don't recall the data but it shoots just under .750" at 100 yards. Same scope setting but with a 208 AMAX sub at 50 yards my son (think he was 14) when he did it was 5 shots, same hole.
I giggle every time I think how little $ I have in that gun and how crazy good it shoots.
