Ruger American Ranch...

Post by cwlongshot »

Well I took her to the range last night... she was shoot fine fine, fine, fine.

Image

Ran my first ladder loading with 4227 and 160FTX EVERY DANM one was sub MOA!! But top vel was only just over 1800...so time to up charges a bit.

I let it cool shooting others and came back to it 30 minutes later...

Second ladder loading...
Shoot, cycle bolt, align, settle in, check level...breath... squeeze...CLICK.. Well they are match primers so harder then 400's so I think little of it and lift the bolt and lower, align squeeze and bang... SAME HOLE! I open the bolt... no casing... I remove bolt and extractor falls on bench.. My detent ball is gone and extractor chipped. GRRR Same deal as last year.

Gotta call today...

I received and installed these parts last night too!!

Upon investigation and a good look with my eyeballs on... The extractor was undamaged. Seems it just puked its detent ball for some reason...

I installed all new parts to be sure. If this occurs again, I think I will send whole gun in as something in this bolt must be out of spec...
