I am having a tough time deciding on getting either an 8 inch barrel or a 10 inch barrel for my 300 pistol.
Convince me which one is a better choice.

Re: * inch or 10 inch barrel???
10", more velocity, not that much longer, and there's one for sale in the classifieds right now.

Just split the difference and get a 9".
Re: * inch or 10 inch barrel???
OK, sorry for being a smart alec. In reality I think my answer is set by what I chose, which is 10.3". I chose that length by the very scientific method of: "I-wanted-a-Mk.18-clone-chambered-in-300Blk." No worrying about ballistics, trajectories, etc. Now, I will say this: I'm very happy with the 10.3" as-is, but now that I've got the 300Blk, if I ever move to a state where suppressors are legal, I could see myself wishing I'd gotten a shorter barrel, because by the time you add 6-9" of can on the end, 2" shorter would be nice... As far as ballistics, the 300 has such a big bore-to-powder-capacity ratio that I don't think you'll see a huge difference in velocity between the two.
Re: * inch or 10 inch barrel???
I chose an 8.2" Noveske, so I voted 8". I wanted an SBR as short as "reasonably" (ie> functional) as possible. I would assume for a pistol, you're overall goal is short length.
Nothing wrong with either choice!

Re: * inch or 10 inch barrel???
As I am somewhat new to 300 blkout as well and this will be my first AR ever I went with a 10" myself. Love the look of it and it just felt right after handling one. I thought I wanted a 16", but the idea of SBR was too great of a an idea. I'll use a SIG brace for now if I decide to go the SBR route. I do plan on suppressing much later down the road, but I think the overall length will be ok with a can on. Good luck in your tough decision,
.45 because shooting twice is just silly.

Re: 8 inch or 10 inch barrel???
Either one will be an SBR or a pistol, so it seems like shorter is better. I dont think you will see enough difference in this caliber to make a realistic difference. If you are looking for ballistic advantage go up to a 16" gun and not worry about NFA regs.
What is the realistic velocity gain 8" to 10" and can that gap be narrowed with some careful handloading and bullet selection? In short, what does the extra length gain you?

Re: 8 inch or 10 inch barrel???
I personally went with 8" as I planned to suppress and SBR.
I wanted the short look and handling that it would give me.
Just got the engraved lower back and will submit the e-form this week.
Bought the suppressor last week, now the long wait.....
Just wanted to be compact and fast handling.
It's also very accurate.
Shoot on.

There's a time for compromise. It's called later.
