I just received this 8 inch barrel. And it measures 7.5 inches not counting the extension. I didn't think the extension was included in barrel length.
I need to find a 7.5 inch handguard. Anyone have a suggestion.

Re: How do you measure barrel length
Barrel length is measured from the face of the bolt. That will be about halfway back the extension, basically at the base of the threads at the front of the reciever.
300 Blackout, not just for sub-sonics.

Thanks, I went and looked and it is 8 inches from the muzzle to midway on the extension and that appears to Ben where the bolt face would hit.dellet wrote:Barrel length is measured from the face of the bolt. Be SURE that weapon is EMPTY.
Close the bolt.
Place cleaning rod in the barrel until it stops at the bolt.
Mark rod at the end of the barrel.
Measure that length on the rod.
This works for most all firearms, except Revolvers.
For revolvers measure from the end of the forcing cone to the end of the barrel...Bill.

It is fairly easy to measure the length of the barrel.I have always used the cleaning rod method to measure barrel length.

Re: How do you measure barrel length
Since the length question has been answered I'll suggest a nice forearm. Might use a blast forwarding device.

If not going to be suppressed, IMO the forward flash devices look good under the handguard, flush with the end.
