looking for barrel recommendations for a high quality build. price isn't a prominent factor. i'm no barrel genius, but i do know a bit.
from my knowledge, here's what I'm looking for:
Chrome Moly Vanadium Steel
QPQ finish
1:7 polygonal rifling
12.5" (but i don't mind having to have it cut, crowned and threaded)
pistol length gas system
preferably sold along with matching bolt.

i'd appreciate input on whether i should look into cold hammer forged barrels, buttoned or cut (and why) and which manufacturer to go with. (even better if they also make .308 Winchester barrels for AR10 for a later build to match my current one)

thank you in advance

Ballistic Advantage does a great job. I would consider a lot of their barrels "mid-priced" but the quality is fantastic. I believe it's the Modern Series that's 4150 Chrome Moly with a QPQ finish. AND they also sell .308 barrels for AR10 style platforms...and 6.5 Creedmore if you decide to go that route instead of .308.

I am going with X-caliber for my current sbr build. It seems to be a complete custom build. They now sell JP bolts with their barrels, and you can get a twist rate as high as 1:6. It we’ll be a bit more pricey though.

What Blackbird said.... Ballistic Advantage/Aero Precision makes a pretty good barrel. As far as that goes, if Aero makes anything that isn't good, I have not heard of it.

I would skip the polygonal rifling thing if you ever though the barrel would be used for lead. Personally, I think the polygonal rifling thing is mostly hype. I have, in my more paranoid times, thought it was collusion with the ammo manufactures to insure only jacketed ammo is used leaving out the bullet casters.

Noveske fits your requirements.
Matching bolts are available as well.
(Or you can send a bolt in to be used and they will headspace off of it.)

I'm sold on the Ballistic Advantage Hanson barrels.

That said, I have another upper with an unnamed "cheap" barrel, that shoots every bit as good as I can (<1" @ 100yds).
